Perplexity has launched Perplexity Labs, expanding its capabilities far beyond search. Users can now build functional tools and analyses—ranging from trading strategies and dashboards to apps like audio visualizers or world clocks—all generated and executed through natural language prompts.
Using Labs involves entering a prompt via the new Labs tab, specifying context or niche for better accuracy. The tool then estimates task duration, and offers notification options once the job is complete. Finished projects include a full breakdown of actions taken, source links, visuals, and any generated code or assets.
The interface is organized across several tabs:
Assets shows images, files, and charts.
Tasks outlines the process step-by-step, including reasoning at each stage.
Videos collects YouTube links used in the research.
Sources lists all references.
Users can share their reports via link or export them as PDFs, complete with visuals. Unlike typical AI tools that summarize information, Labs actively performs tasks—querying data, executing tools, and producing structured, functional results.
Access to Labs is limited to Pro users at $20/month. This includes unlimited Pro queries, 500 daily research tasks, support for up to 50 files per project, and real-time collaboration for teams of up to five users.
