The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kaduna State University (KASU), on Monday, 1 December 2025, held the seventh edition of its monthly Seminar Series, focusing on the practical applications of artificial intelligence in modern research.<\/p>\n

The seminar was led by Umar Mukthar Danmusa, a lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, who explored how AI can supplement human intelligence and ease the most demanding aspects of literature review. He noted that traditional reviews are often slow, repetitive, and labour-intensive barriers that AI tools can help overcome by enabling faster searches and smarter synthesis of information.<\/p>\n

Danmusa also addressed increasingly common journal policies on AI, stressing that AI cannot be listed as an author, most journals require disclosure of AI-assisted work, and restrictions remain on AI-generated scientific content. He warned participants to be cautious with AI-generated citations, citing risks such as fabricated references or bias arising from training datasets.<\/p>\n

During the session, participants engaged with a range of cutting-edge tools including Consensus for scientific question answering, Perplexity for cited responses, Scispace for automated paper analysis, generative AI assistants for drafting, and Zotero for research organisation and reference management.<\/p>\n

A hands-on practical session allowed attendees to test these tools in real time, demonstrating how AI, when used responsibly can make literature reviews more efficient while preserving academic integrity.<\/p>\n

The seminar reaffirmed the faculty\u2019s commitment to equipping students and researchers with digital research skills essential for today\u2019s rapidly evolving scientific landscape.<\/p>\n
